Climbing Jasmine

I have recently bought a jasmine plant in B & Q in the houseplant section. It was for my bathroom but doesn't seem to be doing much at the moment (although it does have a new tendril on it but the buds have come to nothing). A friend has told me that she successfully replanted hers into the garden. Can anybody else give me some advice on this.
