One of the easiest and one of my favourites is the good old clematis. There are loads to choose from, any colour you like, perennial and quick growing.

As an alternative the passiflora or passion flower. Not quite so hardy but if you give it a southern aspect you should have no probs in Essex, I have one in Yorkshire which survives just fine.

Hello Foxy how about a nice Jasmin or maybe a Honeysuckle?

I have a few climbing plants in my garden some Clematis and Passion Flower like John said and they all seem to be doing well and with my choice you do get a lovely scent!

    Hi Foxy,

If you go for honeysuckle try Himalayan, it's pretty hard to destory, even i can grow it! There is a climbing Fuchsia available aswell - Lady Boothby it's called :D

Hark at me i actually sound like i know what i'm talking about [IMG]

Clematis Montana is a beast, grows like wildfire, pretty :D

Hi Foxy, if you want something a bit exotic looking you could try the Trumpet Vine, Campsis radicans. David.
