    Hello all.
I have another question for you all...about Roses.
I have been told that the rose growing in front of our house is a Climbing rose ?
Not sure how I would know...or in fact how my wife knows..but apparently it is..I am happy to believe her lol.
My question is...as it is sitting directly under our front window....can I make / guide it ..to climb all around our front wall / window ..like a country cottage effect ?
If so...what is the best way to do this...?
and will the one plant / bush be enough ? How far will it climb ?
and how should I prune ...guide it ..?
I know this is more than one question lol....but as with all other plants..I know nothing apart from I do not want some ugly leggy sticky mess around the window :-)
    Please advise...
I am actually considering drilling some white shutters to the wall around the window....not working shutters obviously..just for effect...wonder what that would look like ?
Anyway...Im loving this forum ..and starting to love our garden :-)
    Thank you all
    Daniel

Hi Supernube.....Yes you can train the rose to climb where you want it, how far it will grow depends on which climbing rose you have. The one rose should be enough. If you intend to train the rose around the window and upwards then I'd be inclined to forget the idea of false shutters as you will need support for the rose.

We have a guide to pruning here in the Roses forum, here's the link.

Although I have roses I have never had a climbing rose so hopefully somebody will be along to help you out shortly. @wiseowl is our resident rose expert and he is the best man to give you guidance. :)

Good morning Supernube idealy you really need two climbing Roses one each side my friend, yes you can train them, how high will they grow that depends on what the climbers are,I know the cottage effect you want but please be careful, they will need some time and care ,but are well worth the effort,The Roses by my windows are 3 years old so don't expect to to much it will take ,I made my own trellis and then fixed them to the wall,I will hopefully put another trellis along the top of the window this year .

On the left of my window is Pauls Scarlet and on the right is Penny Lane, hope this is of some help to you:smile:
