What about Lathyrus or perenniel sweetpea, I grew some up a wigwam and they died back each autumn.

Won't montana be a bit too vigorous for a wigwam. also honeysuckle is a bit vigorous as well.
Why do you want it to die back? You could use some of the summer flowering hybrid clematis. They would benefit from being pruned hard each year. Otherwise all the flowers are at the top and they are not as vigorous as the specie clematis.
Eecremocarpus scaber - nice and exotic looking. That dies down and would like a nice warm west facing position.

Yes, a montana would be too vigorous for a wigwam, but there are other clematis that would be fine in that situation. Try C. Perle d'Azur - blue flowers in summer, comes back every year, gorgeous!

I agree will Geoff and Tiarella you can't go far wrong with a nice clematis but don't go for a Montana.

Clematis Montana is a monster of a plant one you should plant growing up trellis or wire to cover some eyesore as it grows very quick indeed but saying that it does look stunning in full bloom in may and I would have one if only I had the room.

You could have a passion flower but it is semi evergreen, but a fast grower, you could cut it back though and it would come back every year.
