This weekend we are changing the clocks so that we get an extra hour, but there is talk from a lot of people saying that we shouldn't keep messing about with the time as it is effecting everyone's health.
Is there any one who likes things as they are...yawn [IMG]

really annoys me having to keep changing all my clocks around this flat, hate having to keep taking the big one i have off the wall, wish they would stop meddling and leave things the way they are, natural.

I knew someone who left hers as they were in her house - it was another time-zone!!

I hate it - the animals all rebel and are still wanting food and walks when they think they should - the whole house is pandamonium!!

Oh thanks for the reminder. I never remember when the clocks are supposed to go back and forwards. I wish they would just leave it one way all the time.

Am I remembering right but did they not put the clocks back one year, perhaps late 60s early 70s to see what would happen? I have vague memories of going to school in the dark because I remember treading on a blackbird by accident because I couldn't see it, I only know it was there because it was still light when we got home.

I remember it - was at primary at the time, so it would be somewhere between '64 and '70. We were issued with armbands and things to stick on our backs or satchels.... Wasn't it fun!!

So we were, I remember hating to wear my armbands, they must have stopped the gloves on a string from working properly! Was it any better though when the clocks stayed as they were?

i think this was done to help the farmers at one time, however if you didnt put the clocks back this would leave the north in darkness in the mornings [IMG]

If it is dark in the mornings for the farmers, then surely they have an extra hour of light in the evenings?

Didn't they start this during the war to save electricity and then some of the time we had 'double summer time' -perhaps most of you aren't old enough to remember that.

I would be quite happy if we had Greenwich Meantime all the time, people would soon get used to it.

How about us doing what we want to the clocks, and letting the North of the country do what they want...sorry all you Northeners only joking,no offence meant :D :D
They were talking about it on the TV yesterday and it was said even the post people want the time putting back to how it used to be.
The farmers in our village do their harvesting well into the night even in the summer. They have lights on their harvesters,so they can keep going even when it is pitch black.

Suits me - the hours of daylight are no longer, whereever you are - lets have it permanent British Summer time.

I agree we should stay put on GMT but of course all the EU seems to join in to a greater or lesser degree now, so the powers that be have more reasons for not listening to us common folk and our reasons to change.

The Double summer time was put into being in the second year of the war so that people on the bombing paths were able to get some sleep (or peace at least for the children to sleep at home before we went down the shelters at night. It meant that it was light until after midnight in the height of the summer although it was only for 2-3 months. I think it remained for several years after the war.

I heard on the radio today that they are proposing to keep BST and put the clocks on a further 1 hour in March!

I think the whole problem is that if you keep GMT then noon is not the middle of most peoples day, even BST does not bring noon to the middle of the day.
perhaps we should all start our day a bit earlier. :D
