I'd like to create a little privacy along my boundary fence and like the look of this bamboo. I have read that it grows to 45' Could I control the height to say 10' - 15' and does this plant have a fast growth rate.

Bally, on googling it, it dont seem to be very hardy, not sure how well it would do in Northumberland.

I'm sure a local nursery could give you advice if you are sure you want bamboo.

Nitida? Just flowering at the moment, and new seedlings won't flower again for about 100 years, so should do for your lifetime :)
