Last Saturday, my best friend had to have one of her cats put down as he had a tumour :( She was devastated.
Wednesday night, at tea-time, an identical cat came in through the cat flap and settled down with the others to eat! He's since been spending more and more time there and both the other toms haven't batted an eyelid!! [IMG] [IMG]

VERY strange - particularly the other cats' lack of reaction...... I hope your friend finds a bit of consolation in it.

She was trying not to get too attached to him incase he goes again - but it hasn't worked :D :D She's already mentioned having him neutered, so I think we could say she's firmly attached!!!! :D

Hi Windy I'm intrigues as well.

On a different hopefully similar tangent, when my dad was dying of cancer at home over 12 years ago a cat came in to the house and would lie on the bed with him. When he died it disappeared again!!

[IMG] Yes Windy, how did it turn out..?? It is strange the ways animals "know things"! ;) I can still remember to this day & we are talking 36yrs ago now...!! When my grandmother died at home, Grandad & I went out into the sunshine & sat & talked, while waiting for the undertakers to arrive... We hadn't been there more than 5 mins when a Wren came & sat in the bush right next to the bench & sang to us.....!!!! We were speechless as my grandmother was called Jenny & he always called her "His Jenny Wren"... Do you know that bird stayed there till dusk, never flew off once. Not even when people arrived...!! Every day that Wren visited the bush if he was there, or another one by the kitchen window. Now I don't know how long a Wren can live for, but he said it came for a couple of years till he had to move..... My Grandmother used to laugh & joke & say to him with a wink.. " Behave I will be around watching you"......!!! [IMG] Is this another case of mean't to be..???
 :D What do you reckon..????? Sorry for jumping in the thread Windy..!! [IMG] :D

Sorry guys!! Only just seen this while looking for another thread

    Re: my friends ghost-cat
Well, he's still around, and spending more and more time there. He's now called Tinky Thompson :D There was a couple of weeks where he was scarce after he had a spat with one of the others, and he still doesn't venture past the kitchen (that may be due to the kids!!) but he now seems very much at home.
He's a lovely friendly all black cat with the biggest eyes you've ever seen....been trying to get a piccie of him but he's a bit camera shy!! Will see if my mate can....
Unfortunately, Tink has sprayed 3 times in the house now  So it looks like he could well be off to be neutered shortly. Whether he will stick around after that or not, we'll have to see [IMG]
Sorry it took me so long.....completely forgot I posted it....can you have 'senior moments' at 36??? :D

Oh, I just found this thread and I was very moved at your stories windy and marley. Animals do have a way of knowing when they are needed.
