Hi Jenny, my friend cooks just about anything in hers.. Slow roasted joints of meat, stews, chilli, hot pots, just about anything you can cook in a conventional oven can be cooked in a cob except sponge cakes..!!! Fruit crumbles do well..! :lollol:Have fun with it as I know they do..!! :thumb:

thank you, and yes - the oven is already quite a source of interest & amusement especially with neighbours :hehe: thinking we have completely lost the plot! - anyway we WILL prove them wrong! So please could you ask your friend what sort of casserole dish he/she does the hot pots in - by than i mean is it cast iron or maybe clay? Would like to try a slow cooked chilli recipe with baked potatoes but don't want to end up with a chilli coated oven interior!! Stuff gets REALLY hot in there!!!! So far have been using 'recycled' old cast iron/thick metal oven trays etc.

    Hello jennylyn

We had one here called a Forno do Pão, bread oven, although they are used for all forms of cooking from bread and cakes to complete meals, but we had it removed two and a half years ago because we never used it and it took up 2m2 of the kitchen patio. The modern ones here are the little domed ones.

First picture is the original bread oven and how it looked then and the second picture after the removal ... we have made changes since then also.

I have recently seen on one of the Portuguese forums a recipe for doing whole chickens/roasts in such if you would like me to search it out for you.

0)Your patio looks lovely and so sunny and warm there and here we are preparing for our first frosts! That big oven looked fantastic...I am surprised you did not keep it, though I do agree it was very big. Yes any cooking hints, perhaps a link to the forum you mentioned would be great if you could post them on here for me. thank you very much.
