    Hi Gardeners,
I have been offered an endless supply of coffee grounds from a restaurant chain. I am wondering if it would be any good as a mulch, I have never heard of anyone doing it but just wondered.
    Brian.

Hi Brian, Apparently they can make your compost to acidic if you use to many, but are very good for putting round your plants to deter slugs. 02

Hello brian8451 and welcome to GC.

Here is a link regarding the use of coffee grounds I put up some time ago .... hope it's useful to you ....

    http://www.greenlivingtips.com/articles/151/1/Recycling-coffee-grounds.html

As my t'other half uses a Krups coffee machine for his morning wake up, I have a sufficient supply of grounds to make up fertlizer and I have certainly noticed a difference.

Thank you for quick reply takemore02withit,
On your advice I think I will give it a miss I have broadly neutral soil and would like to keep it that way. Isn`t the internet wonderful so much information just a mouse click away.

    Hello Lady of Leisure,
Thanks for the link, doesn`t sound as if I will need it in the quantities I was thinking of but some could be useful as a liquid fertilizer.
    Brian.

Hmmmmm....I'm going to start saving the coffee grounds from work from now on. I don't drink the stuff myself, it gives me the shakes but they go thru a couple of sachets at work so that will be sufficient for my garden and be a good ant deterrent.
