    Hi all,

I have access to an old double glazed window, the actual glazed unit is removed from the frame and is a perfect size for a decent cold frame. Is this suitable for use or should it be just a single piece of glazing?

    Steve...:)

That's exactly what I've been using and it works just fine for me.

Steve. It will work fine. However I had one and got rid of it. Double glazing units are very heavy, and unless you make a frame for the glass, it can cut your hands. My preferance would be for an old single glazed window, with the glass still in its wooden frame.

D G Units are ok but as Peter says ,they are heavy. I normally split the unit and get twice the amount of glass. If you haven't a frame around the glass then use heavy carpet tape....just watch those hands..trust me ,I know only too well!....:D

I managed to get hold of an old perspex type shower screen from our recycling centre ( tip!) works and treat and is safe too.
