    Hi

Last year I saved the beans (Scarlet Emperor Runner Beans) from the harvest and they grew well this year. Ive left some of the beans to dry on the vine to see if I get the same success next year.

I remember there being an issue about doing this with F1. I dont know if Scarlet Emperor Runner Beans are F1.

Would there be an issue if I saved these beans to plant next year?
    Thanks

No scarlet emperor are one of the older open pollinated varieties. Runners are one of the easiest veg to save seed from. With that success you could try some other things. It's often said if you can save your own, your plants will become more adapted to your conditions. Good luck.

I was looking at the runner bean plants (from saved seed from saved seed etc) yesterday , and noticed some weeds coming up, then luckily remembered that this is last year's garlic that I planted a couple of weeks ago...

Garlic would be fine to plant now. Use a clean area, plant 20cm apart, 7cm deep and mulch lightly.
