i took over a rather wild garden last June and it had a patch of comfrey in it, i was in a hurry to improve soil so i used the leaves for composting and as a foliar feed [very smelly btw], and i knda dug in the roots in various parts of the garden where i hoped they would grow,,,, there are one or two plants around, but i think ive killed most of them ! ......... how should they be propogated?

It is a herb and dies down each year so I should wait a bit yet the leaves don't appear till april/may anyway

I have moved it around an allotment ok and it is easy to grow from seed...it also attracts bees if you have it near the runner row [IMG]

I very much doubt if you've killed it! Around here it is as common as nettles and is regarded as a pest as it grows so easily! As Steve says, just wait a bit longer, my patches aren't showing any growth yet, either. :D

Once you have Comfrey it is very hard to get rid of. Like all the other advice wait I am sure it will re-shoot, and carry on using it as you have.
    Makes an excellant compost accelerator.
