DSC04171.JPG Just found an old photo scan from 1991 when I'd just built the pond and put new fencing up, the garden really looked pretty good in those days, I've let it get far too overgrown now,

one tree in particular, but I just dont want to cut it down.
Both pictures taken from the same spot. June 91.jpg

Looks perfectly good to me. I can't see anything overgrown.

The first picture being the latest is rubbish regarding my photography skills as it was take with the light coming from the wrong angle, I may take another clearer one tomorrow.

Oh, I'd interpreted the wrong way round. I still like it though. The more recent one looks a bit more gloomy admittedly, but as you say, that's clearly down to the light level at the time you took the pic.

That suggests my thoughts are right, it did look better in the old days.

That's a matter of opinion, and seeing as it's your garden, it's your opinion that's important. I like both. Granted the more recent one looks more gloomy, but as you already said, that's clearly down to light levels at the time you took the pic. Going off the pics alone we're not comparing like for like. The earlier pic was clearly taken when the sun was shining bright.

That means you've got an opportunity to create a hidden corner garden.

I like both too. Do you intend to tame it Pete or do you prefer it as it is now?

I think it depends on what one likes Pete. I certainly wouldn’t say one is better than the other. To my taste? I prefer it as it was, but that’s just me :)

Not really, but the big tree has taken over and been cut back on a few occasions, it's spread across about half the width of the garden, I need to do something but I won't be clearing it totally.

I like it now ... because to me it is you. :rolleyespink: I prefer overgrown and left my British garden in Britain. Your rose gives a nice burst of colour.
