    Hi,

I am a complete newbie to gardening & have a nightmare of a garden at a house that I do not live in as yet, so not always there to do things. Which, as I dont have a clue what I am doing in the first place, may very well be a bit of a plus point. One thing I have noticed is that I am actually enjoying messing around in the garden which did surprise me a little. My nightmare garden consists of three parts, a small square to the front of the house, a smaller triangle to the rear and a larger weed sodden triangle to the side (this is the main part and where I want to "do things"). So hopefully some advice can be sought here so that I may actually be able to get it into some sort of order.
    :help:

    Welcome to the forum.

I'm about as knowledgable as you are from the sounds of it, so definitely not the right person to give you advice, but there are loads of people here who do know what they're doing, and I'm sure they'll be along soon.

But to pre-empt them, I bet they'll want photos so they can give you a better answer. Oh, and an idea of soil type, or roughly where you are in the country, and whether it's north facing, exposed, windy etc - things like that.

    Hi Rachel:
    Good point
I (and the offending garden) are in Glasgow (west central Scotland), front is south facing, back is to the north and very shaded & the side bit is to the west and catches the sun (when it puts in an appearance) for most of the day into the night. I just dont know anything about soil types, though I know it once sustained a very nice garden with all sorts of veggies and flowers growing and appears to be pretty good soil under it all. The house sits at a street corner, I dont think it is particularly exposed, but not is concealed either. I did take a couple of photos yesterday for an attempt to indentify the main batch of weeds (and a short time lapse clip last week, for no reason than to try and make a time lapse clip)

Hi Ped, welcome to Gardeners Corner:thumbsup: Rachel is right, they're a friend and helpful bunch here and always willing to help, and Yep, she's right again, if you can supply pics and details of your garden and soil, direction the main part faces, open or sheltered position etc that would be a help for them.
By the sounds of it you're beginning to catch the Gardening Bug which I think you'll find isn't life threatening but good for your health:heehee:
