Hi folks, new to the forum and new to gardening.

I've just moved to a brand new house with a completely blank canvas for a garden.

The garden was left in the usual state by the builders - full of rubble and stones etc. I've had a chap come in and rotovate and clear all that out now though.

I've never had a garden before but want to get stuck in and get it done! I have some ideas for a layout - I want to keep it quite minimalist and clean looking. I was thinking about a square lawn with some borders where I would simply put some shrubs/plants in them.

I just need some advise on preparing the ground etc, and suggestions for some plants. I will get a gardener in to do the lawn but I'd like to do the rest myself if possible!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

      Welcome to GC Jem74. :)

You did the right thing having the garden cleared of rubble before getting under way. Any pictures you may have would be helpful please. It's surprising how they help to induce ideas from members. :)
