compost bin

    hi everyone,
    i have a bit of a problem with what seems like whitefly in my compost bin,can anyone help please

    arwyn, I dont think it can be white fly, but whatever it is, I shouldn't think it will be a problem.

    My guess would be fungus gnats, don't know why they're called that, tiny little things that are almost too small to see, they like warm moist conditions, such as an over watered pot plant in a house with central heating or compost bins. They'not good in your pot plants but I would think they help the rotting process in a heap as they feed on decomposing vegetable matter.

    Sounds like what has just appeared in my tomato pots. What do you recommend, soapy water, coffee...?
