    Hi All

Can I put my leaves that have turned brown and gone crispy on my Cucumber plants into the compost bin?

The bin is too soggy at the moment and this would certainly help the mix but if those leaves are diseased I don't want to introduce the same disease again next year.

    Hi David.

You would be better to make a new compost bin,if your old one has gone soggy and start again. Then you can add the cucumber leaves to it.

If you are in doubt about having diseased cucumber leaves then dispose of them another way,not put them in the bin.

Dave, cucumber leaves die off without disease so you'll probably be ok.
If your bin is soggy you've not been adding enough "brown" material such as leaves, cardboard and shredded woody clippings.
You could try stirring it up a bit to get more air in and mixing what you already have in it.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think there is any disease just drying out. There are new Cucumbers starting to grow again now.

Is it normal for the Cucumbers to stop and then start again??

    Thanks

    Dave

Mine have often looked just about dead and then started new growth at the tips of shoot. At present just about half of the leaves are brown and dry, but I'm still getting new cucs forming.
