    Morning all
I've had to place my compost bin on concrete because of a rat that kept burrowing into it. I do put worms into the bin whenever i find any, however there seems to be hundreds of woodlice in there. are they a help or a hindrence?

They can be beneficial in the garden as they feed mainly on decaying plant material, so in a compost heap they're doing no harm.
They can damage seedlings, so I suppose the answer is they're good in moderation like most things. Frogs and toads will eat them.

Woodlice are actually (along with some types of slugs)and worms, primary agents in the decomposition process. They feed on decaying plant material and their droppings make up a large part of the finished heap. They only eat seedlings when their normal food supply is not available as in a greenhouse.
