Hi, Paladin- how do you get on with the blue plastic one? Do you turn it?
I filled my black one with leaves when i first came here and when the builers moved it 9 months later it was full of lovely rich stuff. I'm wary of using it for general stuff as it's so Hard to turn stuff in it.
Even your compost corner is pretty!

Hiya Liz,..everthing starts off in there, you can just see an Iris leaf handing from under the lid,and I chop it all together with a spade. A can of water each week and the temp in there is terrific. Then it's emptied into the open bins, two of which are closed just now readying for the the Autumn mulch.

I have two plastic bins going, one to add to the other one to leave to compost down.

I find it difficult to turn the stuff though.

Didn't know adding water is beneficial though.

As for a good way to get the little people into gardening, it's just too damn easy for the little buggers to get the lid off and get out :D :D

I have just been reading Beth Chatto' Dry Garden. On compost heaps, she says it is good if you can turn them, but not neccessary. She says however that it takes about two years.

    Thanks DAG,
The compost heap is like a new toy just been and thrown some gone over petunias in there and there's a lot of noise. Must be all the critters in the 2 bags of **** I slung in :D It's already half full, so think I might have to get another.
'Dalek hoards hit Cornwall' - might make the West Briton :D :D
