I HAVE A CONFERENCE PEAR TREE, TWO YEARS OLD, THE PROBLEM IS IT PRODUCES AN ABUNDANCE OF SMALL FRUITS, BUT THEY DONT GROW AT ALL AND FALL FROM THE TREE, LEAVING ABOUT 3 SMALL PEARS WHICH STAY ON THE TREET BUT ARE SO TINY ITS AS IF THE TREE IS LACKING IN SOMETHING, ITS PLANTED SO THAT IT GETS PLENTY OF SUN, ANY IDEA`S AS TO WHAT IS WRONG.

    Hi Colin,

2 years is a bit young to expect a decent crop from any fruit tree and most people would reccommend taking off all the young fruit anyway to allow the tree to develop for the first couple of years...which will benefit the tree and you in the longer term. Give it a feed of a general purpose fertiliser this spring and keep it well watered.
