hi i was woundering if anyone could advise on 2 things ?

    1 cctv

we have installed cctv due to problems with neighbours , alexa woke me up last night and it was our neighbours upstairs when looking on cctv cameras i heard a bleeping noise coming from upstairs when i was on cctv ..
can they be monitoring our camera system ?

    2 mobile phone

hi we are not sure if our phones are being monitored by neighbours as when i texted my wife i heard another phone going of at the same time all seems strange to me ..
is there anyway we can check if we have been a subject of hate crime ?

      1. Depends on the CCTV equipment. If it's an old wired analogue system then it wouldn't be difficult to splice into the wire, but someone would have to be particularly weird to want to do that. If it's WiFi it could be intercepted if the security on it hasn't been configured properly.

      2. Extremely unlikely. Unless they have some serious military grade kit.

On the phones you could use an app like Whatsapp or Signal which are currently end to end encrypted and so pretty secure.

Do you mean changed provider to Sky?

If so, that's not the same thing as changing your WiFi security settings.

In the setting there is a setting for a beep, it may be for motion etc and other things
Mine will beep if motion is triggered, i also have a trip wire setting so anything goes over the trip wire it will beep and give me an alert, you should be able to swich it off

We are with sky and advised to change password to WiFi which we done.
We have motion sensors and it goes through alexa to warn us if anyone is outside our door .
But the bleep noise is not coming from our flat

Turn it all off and see if you still hear bleeps.

Securing your WiFi is an essential start, but you might also check the instructions for the cameras. It should be possible to configure security on them too. It depends on some techy details how they work, but in a nutshell, if they are open to incoming WiFi connections, and don't have their own password, then anyone in range can connect to them.

We don't hear bleep if cctv is off it only happens if we are looking at the cameras to see what is going on .

The cctv system has got its own password .

We also suspect they know what we are saying and doing on our mobile phones
