Hi, my conifer isn't looking too good, what is wrong with it please? It is facing south and gets the morning sun, it is planted in a raised border with good drainage, the soil has some clay lower down. Ta[IMG]

Hi @Conbrue and Welcome to GC:smile:

I'm no expert on conifers but it looks to me like your conifer might be suffering from windburn which has desiccated the green foliage and turned it brown which are now dead bits.If the rootball has been allowed to dry out for any length of time and then you have had quiet a bit of wind then that will cause the problem. If it is in a South facing border then it could have dried out faster than you realised and often they will go brown due to stress and the fact that the plant can't take up enough water.

I doubt very much if the brown dead bits will grow again so you could have a go at taking off the dead bits to make the conifer a bit better looking, but it could make the conifer look even worse. You might even lose the whole conifer if the root ball has dried out considerably and you might have to replace it and start again.
