    Hello

Thought I'd share a few pics of my little plot.

It really needs a radical overhaul, but funds and energy are a bit of a low ebb for the moment so it is a 'wildlife' garden for the time being!

I know too many large specimens are planted making it out of proportion for the size of the garden, but I have a bit of a 'tree thing' and am avoiding getting brutal with it all, though overcrowding is certainly an issue.

Anyway - hope you like it!

    These were taken today (30.3.08)

My little wildlife corner - flowering ornamental plum is starting to look pretty.

    Stones demark my little pond

    More plum anyone?

The most thriving part of my garden - the compost heap - the perils of celandine root nodules in the compost!

BP looking demure. View from patio to my garage.

Some sort of acer with golden leaves, a pieris in flower and for the perceptive amongst you, lots of new suckers from my sumach staghorn tree!

My little bird feeding station - entirely cleaned out - must get some more grub!

Looking into the wild section - weeds and all!

A very difficult shady and stony area - not sure what to do with this yet - ferns maybe?

Outside near the pavement and my drive.

Spot the deliberate mistake - eucalyptus gone rampant!

There really are 2 buzzards circling above for the keen eyed

On full telephoto - they are daily visitors over the garden.

My Paul's Scarlett came a right cropper in last springs high winds. Had to chop a lot of top growth off severely as was very top heavy. New leaf thankfully spells it has survived.

This fella was singing his heart out as I was snapping away. Better than any iPod!

Subdued at the mo - but in the autumn, the Staghorn Sumach and the Virginia creeper on the garage wall put on a wonderful display of deep reds, orange and yellow

Buzzards flying overhead....i'm definately not your friend now [IMG] .

OK then, i do think it's great.

    cheers

    Thanks Inter and Borrower!

Inter - Brixham is only half an hours drive from me. My better half, James, and myself went there last summer and had a lovely stroll from the Yacht club end, through the harbour and a little way out along the coast on the other side as the sun set. Will have to dig out the photos James took. I agree it is a lovely place - the best part of Torbay.

A park Borrower!? That's my problem I think - Park mentality on postage stamp plot!

Yep, the Buzzards are great - you can hear them calling before you see them.

Thanks inter and Rosa - I'll pop some more pics on as things start to change appearance. The warm weather has accelerated a few things along... just in time for the cold snap!!!

Compared to all your lovely neat gardens, mine can be your little bit of Devon 'rough'!

WOO! That is so kind of you to say!

The garden 'fills out' a bit in the summer when the staghorn sumach leafs out and the lace cap hydrangeas all come out to flower!

I have about 15 sumach suckers making an appearance but haven't got the heart to hack them down while they are small - they are so velvety on their stem - I stand there just feeling them sometimes! Like the real velvet antlers they are named after!

So between standing stargazing and feeling trees otherwise I am quite normal!

I'll post some more photos soon and thank you people once again! I love the garden but I am a very messed up individual, so we sort of go together!

    Love Kath x

    Taa Pete!

Yes - I do like exotics and have always hankered after a tree fern. Palms seem to do ok in this part of the world. A scottish friend of mine was surprised to see my Chinese Fan Palm doing so well out of doors!

Fatsia Japonica also does crackingly well down here - mine started out as a weedy little house plant in a pot and is now a monster!

I love architectural plants - cordylines, mahonias, conifers, ferns, pieris. Also like a lot of evergreen stuff so the garden doesn't go completely bare in winter.

My climbers I just leave to go rampant - but the ivy and the virginia Creeper are invading the eaves of the garage now so I guess that will have to be dealt with.

    Thanks for your interest.

The buzzards are a very welcome bonus.

House sparrows are fine, rife and thriving in Ivybridge!

    Just no frogs.... :(
