well you are supposed to cut it off in bunches and hang up to dry covering the bottom with a paper bag for 10 days and the seeds will then come away from the husks easy ..then you store them in an airtight container out of direct sunlight..if you have allready gone past this stage then i would tell you to spread the seed on some kitchen roll on a hot sunny windowledge for a week and that will dry them .. Hello again people

I have harvested my coriander. Can I replant some now for a further supply of leaves. Or is it too late in the year?. Also inside or out?

    Ta

    Much appreciated

You should still have time to do some more ..sow them in or out its up to you..i think we are due some more heat so be gratefull for the rain....you might be better off if you sow a new supply every fortnight now for the rest of august and that should give you a supply..before the bad weather arrives..

Hi barbaraanne, I saw a guy on the "Big Dig", BBC program on allotments a couple of weeks ago who cracked his coriander seed by placing it in a plastic bag and hitting it with a rolling pin before he sowed it. The idea is to get it to germinate quickly as coriander is known to take a long time to germinate.

I tried this two weeks ago and the seedlings are now about 2" long. If you haven't already re-sown, give it a go. I'm sure you'll be impressed with the speed of germination.
    Regards
    BigT

I have just returned from a garden where the gardener swears by using the coriander seed unripe. He crushed a handfull and the smell was extraordinary - half way from the leaf to the dried seed, but much more intense. He makes a sweet chilli and yoghurt dressing with it, but I didn't manage to get either the recipe or a taste of it. C'est le vie.
