Advice sought! Driving along the country lanes near my cottage in Bodmin I see a mass of beautiful wild flowers which I think are Corncockels. I would love to add them to my garden. Can I harvest seeds from them and if so when is the best time to do this? How do I harvest the seeds? When should I plant the seeds and where is the best position?Any advice would be greatly appreciated
The red one are Red Campions, but it's illegel to take wild flowers but to be honset i'm not sure about taking the seeds @Zigs do you know please
You can collect the seed, it's just illegal to uproot any wild plant without the landowners permission Seed won't be ready for a month or so, tbh, it's probably easier to buy a packet of wildflower seed from the garden centre. Like Jiffy said, they are Campions, but the Corncockle is worth growing too, lovely flower They need a bit of disturbed ground without much competition from grasses, corncockle is an old weed of cornfields, it's nearly been wiped out from farming as it's seeds are poisonous and you wouldn't want it getting into your bread.
Crocus sell the seeds , as do other sites . http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/agrostemma-githago/classid.1000000957/
