    just been given 1 of these yesterday at our favourite nursery,gorgeous tree/shrub

    Sadly, if memory serves, the fruits look great but taste pretty insipid.

    Very jealous of both of you - it is my favourite tree. There was a spectacular specimen at Wisley until it succumed to Honey fungus.

    It often occurs that gorgeous looking fruit has no taste. Well, you can't have everything!
    But don't be jealous because I haven't got one! I have tried though in the past to grow the seeds which I remember they are quite peculiar, they are like pebbles. But no luck.

    Lovely tree; planted one in my old garden in Cheshire about 10 years ago, it's still there and looks stunning...
