I bought this tree recently and the full height/ spread on the label is 3m x 3m
but after looking online find it can grow 6m x 6m . is it possible for me to contain its spread by pruning to 3m x 3m.

    Hi Bally

I think cotoneaster cornubia is one of the big, vigorous cotoneasters so you will need to prune it hard back in late winter/early spring. It's possible to restrict vigorous species (think how many bay trees are kept in pots) but it's hard work.

I have a cotoneaster hedge which the previous house owners allowed to grow to 6m high. I cut it right down to below 2m but I have to trim it 5-6 times a year to keep it low!
