On a walk we had over the weekend , I spotted these three in a stunning cottage type garden . All three were about 1 metre tall . Can anyone assist in the ID of them ?
    TIA

The first two are aqualiga, AKA Granny’s Bonnets. The bottom one looks like phlox.

Thanks all again for another spot on ID.
I have just planted some Grannies Bonnets , I never knew they grew so tall . Mine says 12" . The ones I saw were well over 2 feet .
For the Hesperis matronalis , I have just looked on Chiltern seeds , for next year. One quote on the site has thrown me.
Although a perennial, it is best grown as a biennial when it will remain in flower from June to September. It can also be grown as an annual.
How do you grow as an annual or biennial

Pull it out after one or two years :heehee:

Really toxic seeds from the aquilegias, keep em away from grandchildren.

You have to chuck the seeds in and hope for the best, expect the worst, and take what comes ;)
