Couch grass & Turnips

    I have read that if turnips are sown thickly among couch grass the grass dies ! - some sort of chemical reaction? - Of course the turnips then become the nusiance, but are more easily got rid of than couch. - Anybody tried this?

    Not tried it, but sounds like some kind of old wives tale to me.

    You are more likely to find the grass growing right through the turnips, the pointed shoots are sharp.

    Tend to agree with Pete on this one ,would certainly be a bonus if it worked, Price of turnip seed would go up ..

    Not heard this one before, I agree with pete. From memory years ago we grew turnips on my father's farm and couch was always a problem in every field. Can't remember the turnips making an iota of difference.
