Hi, would couch grass come under the heading of pest (in the absence of stronger terms)
Will the same sort of cures recommended in other threads for Bindweed and ground elder work for couch, I have dug out as much as possible, but some root runs go under well established roses which I don't want to move.
I note that some weedkillers are available as gels, I have usually made my own "gel" by adding some wallpaper paste to the weedkiller with some degree of success on other weeds, though the lack of broad leaves on couch seems to reduce the effectiveness.
    Cheers MIKE

Hi, Dmike. S.B.K. doesn't work very well on Couch because it's not a broad-leaved plant. You could try Roundup or Glyphosate that might do it. Good luck!

You could try getting one of the made up canisters of glyphosate to spray on if you haven't got much to do...or if there is a lot use a sprayer, but don't let it get on any rose foliage. I find the spray strength glyphosate much more effective than the gel.

Of course, if you're really enthusiastic, just keep robbing the plant of its greenery and eventually the root will die off. You have to be pretty dogged though and it takes a while - some months or even longer.
