I'm trying to remember which trees we used to collect the larvae from when we were at school, we had no idea what they were but we used to keep them in the inkwells on the desks, the ones with the sliding lids.

Teacher wasn't too happy with us when we came back from half term hols to find the classroom crawling with ladybirds:snork:

Somehow she knew it was down to me & my mates.

Think it may have been Lime trees.

One or two Ladybirds here:blue thumb:....but if you're after the larvae...you need to be at your local cemetery ....they seem to take a liking to the old head stones.....:dbgrtmb:

With the late spring I'm guessing the larvae will be late also.
How about blue tits, I think they eat greenfly, I know sparrows appear to.

Yes, we have them here. Yesterday was warm and sunny, quite a few of them were out and about, some of them were mating. Shame I didn't see your post earlier, otherwise I mighty have caught some of the mating ones and sent them to you. They would have just finished their deeds when they reached you and the next generation would have been on the way in your garden. :loll:

Alas, today it is cold and cloudy here, after a walk around the gardens I've only found one, here it is:

It is a harlequin and it will eat plenty of aphids. I tolerate them to some extent. What do other GC members think? :what:

Think we've lost the battle against them now, if there ever was one.

Found 1 yesterday & put him on the beans, he's still there this morning, doesn't seem to be eating though, just sat there.
