Hi Everyone, i found this site a few days ago, and i love it, i have looked through the majority of the old posts to see if they will solve my problems, but couldn't find what i needed exactly.
So here goes, Q1 i bought some strawberry plants last weekend, and they have trailers on them, i have put these in seperate pots on they're own, but was wondering when i can cut the cord, ( i have had wild strawbs in pots for a number of years, but as they are much smaller i just put the trailers back in the pot they grew from and leave them)
Q2 i have read here about people using used tea bags at the bottom of the pots to help with drainage (i have run out of pebbles, and apart from picking out the grouting on the patio i have no stones at all!), do they need to be rinsed or will they be ok with the remains of milk in them too? and will they have any effect on the flavour of chives and sage (the plants i am planning on putting them in with?
Thanks in advance for your help
    Gillx

    Hi Gill

    Q1

As soon as they have developed a root system it will be ok to cut them off (give em a little tug to see if they are well anchored [IMG] )

    Q2

You could give them a squeeze under the tap to remove any excess, I don't think this will flavour anything grown in them, but I would prefer to use some broken clay pots as drainage if you have any

Hi Stevew, thanks for the reply, i'm amazed as the strawbs have a bit of a root already! so i might be able to seperate them soonish. I'm afaid i will have to use teabags...unless i go hunting for stones with the kids, lol, something to do to keep the kids occupied for a couple of hours!
    thanks again
