My courgettes (Patio Star) are currently in pots in the greenhouse, and are flowering away merrily with one bearing fruit already; now, the pots will not be big enough, of that I am sure, but I will resolve that over the weekend as I am going to buy a shed load of builders buckets tomorrow :snork:

Last year, the same courgettes didn't really do much kept outdoors, and seemed to flop over the sides of the pots quite readily which mean that the fruits were vulnerable not only to hungry garden visitors, but also to damage from lying against the wet pot.

So, two questions for this year, should I:

    - Stake the courgette plants once in their larger pots to prevent them flopping over?

    - Keep the courgette plants in the greenhouse, or evict them outdoors?

With this constant wind they'll be better of in the Greenhouse FC.

Planted mine out a few weeks back and they are just sat there sulking, not putting on any growth at all.

Thanks Zigs - I barely got anything out of them last year; in fact, I barely got anything out of anything last year, so I am keen that this year is a lot better.

Its not as though I am short on space in the greenhouse - - - or at least I shouldn't be once I move everything out to its proper locations.

I got none last year at all. Total write off in the veg garden, what the blight didn't get, the slugs ate.

If you can shelter the tender stuff it'll stand a chance:)
