My 3 courgette plants have obvious courgette beginnings on them, but all flowers so far look female. All have the courgette-type stalk. Does this mean I'm going to lose the whole crop? I.e. no male flowers to pollinate (or whatever the technical term is!) the female flowers and to grow my delicious veggies? :(

I wouldn't worry too much. The bees and insects will probably sort it out for you. :thumb:

I read a 'scientific' report last year (American). A study had been done on courgette plants to see what effect temperature and amounts of sunlight had on when and how they bore fruit. One of the things that became evident in the experiment was that certain conditions caused male flowers to bloom first and other conditions caused the female flowers to be produced. None of this is much use to us of course as most of us plant them when and where we can and hope for the best :). Your plants are quite normal and will produce fruit when they are good and ready so don't worry, all is well. :thumb:

No Snowbaby, you're not going to loose the whole crop. The plants will sort it out, male and female flowers will come along at the same time and you'll be overrun with courgettes.

Thanks guys! There's a fair amount of baby courgettes at the moment, I didn't want to end up with nothing after seeing them grow thus far!
