Crane Flys

My garden, is full of them, the lawn is alive :( There are so many even the over sized population of extra large spiders are not making a dent.

They all seem to be shedding their skins into the grass and then having a massive orgy. Am I going to have a problem with leather jackets next year? will my lawn be eaten alive?

I haven't seen any birds for a while, even the magpies have done a runner so there isn't really anything around to eat them

 

I've usually have the same problem Adamsh , leather jackets and the lack of Starlings haven't helped but this year the Starlings have reappeared so they should save the lawn plus I wondered why there had been such an influx of Blackbirds on the lawn,up to 18 in one go so that'll be the reason
