    Hi Sheal

@Spruce I would be interested in reading the RHS article if possible please. Meanwhile I'll have a scout round the island news over the next few days to see if I can find anything else out. :)

        Hi @Sheal
        whole article

        Isle of Man garden
A billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist is bringing together some of the worlds leading designers to create a "garden" of global standing on the Isle of Man .

Mark Shuttleworth , the second -ever "space tourist" and first South African in orbit , has recruited Andrew Inglis , former Head Gardener at Balmoral , to oversee the creation of the 32ha (80acre)garden near Stanton.
Work has already started on the first phase , a 1.2ha (3acre) Japanese garden architect Shumayo Masuno.
The garden has serious botanical intent, with advisers including the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh .
One botanically interesting feature will be an orchard reflecting the worldwide distribution of Malus.

so you heard it first on GC Sheal

Thanks Spruce, it'll be interesting to see how it develops. I'll have to go along and have a nosey at the site, it's about twenty miles from where I live.

Yes it will definitely be good for the island! We have nothing like it here, in fact there are no 'gardens' here to speak of, although one or two island residents will open their gardens for charity as a 'one day, one off '. It certainly looks promising at the moment. :)

Although the ground is privately owned I hope the Manx government doesn't put any hurdles in the way which they have a tendency to do.
