    Hi,

Can anybody help, we have hundreds of crickets in our garden lawn. The grass is not very long but there are loads on them which is making it very unpleasent to be in the garden enjoying this beautiful weather. Has anybody any tips on getting rid of them.

    Many thanks

    Kate :( :

I know crickets are a great help as they gid rid of nasty annoying insects but dont know iff i would care to have them all over my lawn.
I would just pack them in a case and send them to hornbean

I'd like some as well... is it that there's too many to sit comfortably, or is it the noise?

    Hi,

I know they are great but you cant actually walk on the grass with out them jumping around, the noise doesn't bother me - just want to have a little less of them.

    Thanks

Do you think the trebouchet would work?
Seriously try hosing the lawn, or have you a hosepipe ban- even so a quick blast wouldn't hurt, unless you have bossy neighbours
    :D

when i went to thailand in december our friends are married to thai ladies and when we all went out to the bar the girls used to always go off and bring back food. One of the guys used to always give me food and i ate a dried cricket etc actually it tasted ok until they told me what i had just eaten. I would not buy them as they look horrid

My problem is the other type of cricket. My OH and kids keep dragging flower pots or wheely bins onto the lawn to be the 'wicket' but they never put them back!
I would love to have the real crickets here though....

Whilst I wouldn't worry about crickets on the lawn, it is probably your unusually hot weather that has attracted them .. I WOULD be wary of any of them entering your home .... they will eat holes into furnishings, clothes etc., and chirp all night !!! Crickets are attracted to moist, shaded debris, like grass clippings... if you're mowing your lawn or clipping tall grasses, make sure to rake them away from the house. A compost heap several yards away may attract them away from your lawn...and house ! M-L
