Moving to here, Waco, as I didn't see where the other thread was coming from anyway! No offence, Scotkat! [IMG]

I've never heard of Crinums so just looked them up, very nice indeed but I think I'm too dry (perhaps a G&T may be in order just now!) ... seems like they prefer moist shade, but a frostfree climate.

Let us know how they fare with you!

They are like nerines, amarillis and hippeastrums.

I have mine on south facing dry house wall, they flower late when the daylight shortens. Now my nerines are flowering beautifully, but crinums, aremcrinums cardiocrinums amarillis Bella Donna and all that lot have just gone on strike, so I think I am just too cold.

They are spectacular if you see them - will try find a picture, but off to the Lakes for the weekend.

I think they could suit your climate.

posted this at same time as you.

My Bella Donna looks dead so I turned it upside down and the root formation was stunning - top looks totaly dead as a dodo! so now its going to hate me for disturbing it - you can't win.

I have some of those and have had them for about five years.I was begining to give up with them as they were all leaves and no flowers, but this year after forming a large clump over those years, mine has now flowered.Well worth the wait if you have patience [IMG]

Thanks Kandyfloss, I had suspected this was the case, however I am worried about frost getting to them. "Elen Bosenquet" as pictured is in a pot so I have brought hewr inside, but others will be left in situe, I will probably give them a mulch and a bit of fleece though, anyway they are there now so I will leave them to it for now.

Still think they may suit LoL's climate though

Very nice! I can assure you, mine are neglected Kandy as I don't do anything to the rockery except remove the odd weed or two!

Must admit, Waco, haven't planted the wonderful orange poppies yet as this summer has been a bit stressful and it was always one of the things I was going to do! :D Then we went off to England and since we've been back it's been solid rain!
