I have several areas of crocosmia in my garden and they have been flowering absolutely beautifully. However, the foliage all flops forwards long before the flowers appear and takes up a lot of room and doesn't look brilliant (in my view!). Where I have seen it elsewhere it seems to stand up better and be less space consuming though without staking. Is this just a matter of which variety it is? Can one stake it without it looking ridiculous?

I've got a few types of Crocosmia, the larger such as Lucifer can "flop" a bit - I just put a cane each side of the group and run a piece of green string between them to act like a support. You can't see it but it keeps them upright.

Wilkinsons did packs of green wire stand-alone fencing in packs of 7 for about £4.
It stands about 40-50cm when pushed into the ground and the colour gets lost in the foliage.
I have Crocosmia at the side of my Lawn, coming out from under bushes.
A piece of this fencing is immediately in from and the flower heads overhang. The fencing is not noticable unless you actually look for it.
The 7 bits of fencing is spead around the garden. The bits clip / unlclip as required.
