    Hi there,

I have planted lots of yellow Crocus in pots and window boxes, the flowers have come through and before opening they are all falling over as if too heavy for their delicate stems, they still look nice if not a bit drunk - have I done something wrong?

Probably not deep enough planting, though crocus do have that habit sometimes.

They have pretty much all done it now before the flowers have opened and do look a sorry state, especially after todays wind. I have planted them in various different pots and I thought according to the instructions for depth, however maybe wrong. not a lot I can do now anyhow!

Waco, glad to hear it (I think)!

may be just the type of crocus? Only ones I have to take care with are the Autumn ones which grow without leaves, I have to grow these where there are shrubs to give support.

I bought some crocus last week - and a few of mine have fallen over too. They were just about to flower which meant that I could not plant the bulbs that deep... I think I will be more organised this year and plant bulbs and not be lazy and buy them ready!

Our crocus are established and they have all fallen over, I've put it down to all the wind and rain, the daffies look the same too.

I've heard that blackbirds go for yellow crocuses for some reason, but leave the mauve ones alone!

I think it's the colour- birds are supposed to be able to see that end of the spectrum better. [IMG]

Quick question - How deep should the bulbs be?

Depth of planting should be approx. 3 times diameter of bulb, I think.
