    Hi All,

I will have pulled all my cabbages in the next few weeks and am a bit confused about crop rotation. Can I plant some more cabbage in the same place this year or not? I am sort on space and the space i have is about 1m square, if i cannot put cabbage in what would you suggest to follow?

I think conventional wisdom says no more cabbages this year. However, I've been reading a book by the legendary Geoff Hamilton, who seems to be saying that if the soil condition is maintained rigorously then you can safely break the rules.

Sticking with conventional wisdom though, I think its either roots or legumes (beans and peas) next, but someone far more knowledgeable than me will surely be along shortly to tell us.

Carrots and/or beetroot if you pull them young and tender. Yummy. I just transplanted some beetroot yesterday after my cabbages.

I used to rotate crops but haven't done so for about 20 years. I've found that proper digging and good fresh compost each year works OK for me.
