Crown imperials and pyracantha

I did get some advice last year about the Crown Imperials not flowering but sadly they haven't flowered this year either. We have dug them up and are going to try planting them on their side in the Autumn. Any more advice would be welcome!
Our pyracantha doesn't flower or berry. It looks healthy,makes new growth but that's all. We got it from a reputable nursery about 3/4 years ago and I think it was in berry then but nothing since. Can anyone suggest anything?

Hi Gwen, sorry to hear the Crown Imp's didn't flower again.. I found this RHS pamphlet, maybe some suggestions there as to why..

Non-flowering fritillaries
â?¢ Crown imperials, or Fritillaria imperialis, are the real show-stoppers of the fritillary world. A tuft of lush green leaves and whorl of bell-shaped orange or yellow flowers sit on an impressive 1.5m (5ft) flowering spike in April or early May.
Crowning glory: Fritillaria imperialis grow to 1.5mâ?¢ If flowering has failed in the past, feed as soon as the shoots are first visible. Use a general-purpose fertiliser, such as Growmore, at 100g-140g per square metre (3.5oz4oz per sq yd).
â?¢ To promote flowering next year, apply a high potassium liquid feed at seven- to 10-day intervals until the foliage begins to turn yellow.
â?¢ An alternative approach to non-flowering crown imperials is to lift the bulbs in early autumn, improve the soil and replant. However, they may take a year or two to re-establish.
â?¢ Lack of success with crown imperials may be due to unsuitable soil conditions. Ideally, they need a deep, rich, well-drained - preferably alkaline - loam soil, and a warm, sunny position.
The depth of planting is also critical. Shallow-planted bulbs may flower in the first year but not subsequently. For reliable flowering they should be planted 30cm (12in) deep on a bed of grit.

:( Sorry Gwen. As far as the Pyracantha goes I don't really know much about them except they like lots of sunshine & they fruit & flower on the last yrs wood..
