Janet. I imagine all of us feel the same way. I am not a cat lover, albeit we did have a cat, and I cried my eyes out, when it died. A local cat has befriended me, and almost talks. I fell for it's charms and now it comes around for feeding. But to submit any form of life to such long suffering is so cruel.

Here is an update on the little poppets ...

This touches my heart as I found two of my now dearly departed babies Calvos and Candi in a carrier bag at the rubbish bins newly born and wet with umbilicals still attached in 2006. I couldn't deal with them so a lovely French lady at an animal charity took them for their first five weeks and here they are in Valerie's hand ...

With Poopy the abandoned puppy they lived with ...

... and at two months home with us ... they loved flower pots and I always knew where to find them ...

We took this chap on one week back. Bob is a rescue cat. He was handed over to a local cat charity full of flees and dishevelled 6 years old.
He's now 'broadline' treated and looking handsome.
He is such a lovely natured puss and loves attention and purring whilst sitting up against me on the settee.
I can't watch the Rspca ads on the tv.. There's so much pain going on out there.
But not for our Bob anymore.

Ah, bless you @JR taking on an older poppet. Bob is very handsome indeed and has a good forever home now..:cat-kittyandsmiley:

I agree with you, I cringe at the ads ... and almost cry at the donkey ones!

It warms my heart to know there are ones who will take and look after abandoned animals and give them a good home after all they make Life more pleasurable i would always have an abandoned /rescued cat once trained they know you helped them by giving them a good home etc inturn they are so loving.

We've had various dogs and cats over the years and they all have their own personalities.
I know some rescue cats can take quite some time to settle down and trust.
Bob here is doing fine after just two weeks and he likes his new igloo.

They love igloos ... we have one but as we have two poppets I call it the "Twogloo". Our 20 year old who left us a few years ago was buried with his. He was Magic Sam but we called him Boo so it was the Boogloo. He liked cushions too ...
