Crufts , strange Doggie people breeding dogs into strange Doggies shapes . Their time is past. Sooner they close the whole circus down the better.

The Kennel Club do not allow the BBC to broacast Crufts after a wholly biased anti-pedigree dog Panorama progamme a few years ago. Quite rightly so. Channel 4 have provided excellent coverage and I've enjoyed it.
So Harry has your dog been health screened, ie, Eye examination, Hip scored, etc etc? Had all it's innoculations and are up to date. Is it insured, chipped and vet checked monthly? Did you know that a KC assured breeder has the home checked before they are certified?
A proper KC approved breeder makes sure every puppy is healthy and pay several hundreds of pounds in health tests and certificates before a dog leaves them. The KC does more for the welfare of pedigree and non-pedigree dogs than you may think Harry.
Dog showing is fun Harry and the dogs love it. You should go and see for yourself.

Well to your first question yes.
To your last statement Arthur the wheezing bulldog , that lives a few doors down , I have never asked if he thinks dog showing and breeding is fun , maybe he can't see the fun side of this?

I used to show English Cocker spaniels and at Crufts , I know the ups and downs I used to travel all over the country my dogs well more family really had the best I could provide at the time and two of them lived to 171/2 and the other one 181/2 , yes a lot of breeds do have problems we have created ie Dalmations that suffer from deafness , dacshunds with back problems , bulldogs who cant self whelp because the heads are too big to birth normally , but on the plus side over the past 15 years , tests that make it possible to eliminate eye problems hip problems etc ...and the KC have really stepped up there game to eliminate the bad breeders and educate as well .

Lots of good breeders out there , but lots who want to make a quick ££ watch dispatches this week about all the dogs being brought in from Poland especially the French Bulldogs as they go for over a Thousand pound each .

I like dog shows , but some some dogs are high maintenance with coats ets too long but when people take on a dog they should do a bit of history on the dog breed to see if it is suitable for them or not .
My mate in work bought a Persian cat and every 12 weeks it has all its hair trimmed not understanding that she would have to brush it every couple of days

If you like long country walks dont get a bulldog

I didn't see this today, but my brother told me about it. I have a question......I thought Crufts was for showing pedigree dogs, apparently the dog that took 'reserve' was a labrador/retriever cross breed. Have they changed the rules and why, if so why are Jack Russells still not permitted after all these years?

Good morning all my friends and many thanks for all your valued comments:)

Good morning Harry I will always respect your opinions and views my friend but all I said was what is quoted above.;)

I don't agree with everything I watch on TV from Gardening to documentaries in fact a very wide spectrum of programmes,But I really don't think that by not watching them at all because I don't agree with parts of them, isn't for me and I would be the loser.
So on this my friend we will have to agree to disagree and thank you for your reply to my post:):)

I caught the last part of it wiseowl; didn't realise it was still going strong! Some handsome looking breeds on there, for sure! :dbgrtmb:

Spruce well done you, Cruftsman :dbgrtmb: I also noticed the advert for Dispatches, so I'll be watching that with an open mind.

Robajobs As for my dog having pre-tests and stuff, then no - because, as you may recall, he is a rescue dog and a cross breed. But, he's insured, neutered, microchipped, vacinated, de-flead and goes to doggy school so he can be the best behaved dog in the park (we're working on it :heehee: ). I actually think he'd have great fun being showing off but it's not a route I wish to go down.

I thought labrador retriever was just the full name of a labrador?? having had a chocolate lab myself his papers referred to him as as a labrador retriever, correct me if I'm wrong of course:) , think a cross is called a golden labrador retriever a cross of the golden retriever and labrador retriever.
A fine looking dog he was too

I really enjoyed watching it again this year, the winning dog Jilly was such a little cutie! It was wonderful to see the rottie, dobie and boxer wagging their lovely tails. Although the main competition is only for purebreds, the Scrufts finals (for mongrels) is now also held at Crufts. The labrador was gorgeous and his owner was brilliant, but it was too fat!

Yep the one that took 'Reserve' was a pedigree Labrador proper/full name 'Labrador Retriever', he wasn't a cross with a Golden Retriever :)
