    Hi,

Is a crumbly top soil the best covering for lawn seed or are there better coverings?

Any recommendations for a good make/product most appreciated.

    Thx

Are you sowing a new lawn? I just distribute the grass seed and then gently rake it in (well, I rake it this-way and that-way, but the seed is fine so it doesn't get "carried" wit the rake, and stays randomly distributed, but covered a bit, and thus comes up looking just fine).

Or are you trying to improve your soil, prior to sowing grass seed?

As above for a new lawn ^

If you're over seeding then a nice crumbly top soil will be just fine. Once covered use a rake to even up any coverage where necessary.
