    Hi,

I'm growing these for the first time this year and currently have 4 sturdy plants outdoors, climbing up trellising. I'm totally new to cucumbers and just hoped someone could give me pointers as to if/when to nip out growing tip/side shoots, whether to take off male flowers and give me an idea of how large the plants are likely to get.

None of this info is mentioned on the seed packet so any advice as to how to get the tastiest, bumperyist crop would be much appreciated :)

    Hi Andy.
I think they are ridge type and if you are training them all you need to do is nip out side shoots so that you have a manageable number of main stems. Even if you don't nip out side shoots and just let them grow like triffids you should still get a decent crop. I can't comment from any experience with Crystal Lemon, but I've grown ridge type for years and have never bothered taking off male flowers.

Great - sounds pretty low maintenance, just the kind of plant I like! Got a few fruits forming now, about golf-ball size :)
