One year on, and I have managed to repeat exactly the same problem with trying to grow cucumbers as I had this time last year. Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong?

The soil is pretty moist. I use a dripper to water it for 10 minutes every 6 hours.

I feed it with a general purpose solid plant food that I scatter on the surface and let the water from the dripper dissolve on its way down.

Solid food is a bit of a new thing for me. Last year I used liquid tomorite, but the plant died this way just the same.

Oh, and is it now beyond saving? It has some fruit growing on it.

I have lost 2 out of my 5 the latest today, I am pretty sure it was over watering though, yours look like scorch to me, In this sunshine of late it is well over 50deg in my greenhouse so i have had door and vents open all day, that cools the air but i have thrown a fleece over my staging which covers my tomatoes as I get full sun until about 5pm and the cues are at the back so they are sheltered as well,

I would hang on in there if it has fruits as long as there is some leaves

Hi, the plant seems to be sick but I can not be sure just by seeing the picture.

Did it rain a lot on it?

Did you try to grow the same type of cucumber twice?

Hi - thanks for the responses.

It is in a greenhouse so no, it has not been rained on at all.

Sorry, I forgot to note the variety (and indeed what I tried last year). I'll ask 'er indoors in case she knows. Is there are variety that you recommend as being more hardy than others (for next year, of course)?

I asked because I had the same experience with one variety twice, but the other varieties I planted went very well. So I just didn´t buy the seeds of the "weak" viriety anymore. And the problem I had saw pretty much like the problem your plant have.

Did you buy the seeds or a plant?

I made much better experiences with seeds.

How are the cucumbers of your neighbors doing?

Ah - have no neighbours growing them. But this year and I think last year we bought them as germinated plants from a garden centre. The year before, which was very successful, was from seed. So I think you may have something there.

It is suffering from scorch, it is planted much too close to the glass. Give it some shading and it should recover. Also, what are you feeding it with and how often?

You could be right, they do look at me suspiciously, mind you, thats probably due to the roundup i'm carrying.
