cucumber

    Is it to late to plant a couple of cucumbers plants in the greenhouse.

    If they are reasonably developed plants its probably OK (or worth checking it your local Garden Centre
    have some), but I reckon seeds will take too long to germinate and get under way.

    (I didn't see any in my GC today, but they did have tomato plants with 4 trusses on them for 5 quid each ... I wasn't buying!, but I expect they would be ideal for a newbie-greenhouse-owner).

    mine are doing ok how long inch wise should you let each individual cucumber grow.

    The normal line is "wait until they are straight and don't leave them so long they go yellow"

    However, if your plant is developing 3 or 4 massive cucumbers it won't set any more fruit. When you cut those off new fruit will set, but then take a couple of weeks to mature.

    So I think it is best to cut them when they are a size you can use (obviously a 1" cucumber is no use at all ...) and then more will set regularly.
