Are these the very first ones on the plant madmick? Sometimes the very first one or two are a bit 'funny', because they have spent so much time trying to mature. It's also a problem caused by lack of warmth and sunshine, this horrible cold wet weather isn't helping. I'd pick them off and hope the following ones are normal.

Dawn, I think this is also down to lack of warmth. Assuming your's are in a greenhouse, try and raise the temperature by keeping vents closed during these cloudy/cold days and cut down watering.

Possibly basal stem rot killing the plant. Check the base of the stem for rot.
If you do have bsr you might be able to save the plant by mounding up earth a couple of inches in thye hope the plant will put out new roots.

Could also be red spider mite but this usually starts as light brown patches on the leaves.

these arnt the 1st one's on the plant I have already picked one that was dark green & it tasted great then the next 3 cuc's have gone lime green no sign of red spider mite as I give them a spray with the hose pipe every night will have to check the stem at the base.

Sounds like an adult vine weevil, which is bad news, the adult does little damage but it’s larvae will be chomping on the cucumber’s roots causing the damage you describe. The only treatment for an edible crop is nematodes – such as a product like this:
Vine weevil, Nemasys nematode pest control - nemasysinfo.co.uk

Check the link to see if your symptoms match.
