Currently Listening To 2025

Not sure where to post this but very sad to hear that Johnnie Walker died yesterday. I loved listening to Sounds of the Seventies on Sunday afternoons - preferably sitting in the garden!

 

I heard the news on Tuesday @katecat58 . I 'grew up' with JW - listening to him on the radio at various times from his R. Caroline days and R1, and then R2. I've always called him the musician's DJ. He was truly knowledgeable, and always a joy to listen to because he didn't hold back!

I loved his story about making up with Les McKeown. He'd got into such bother because of his very open opinion of the B.City Rollers. When he interviewed him a few years before his death [when they made up] Les went to leave. He did a Columbo, and turned round and said to Johnnie - 'by the way, you were right. We were crap! ' Brilliant.
My opinion of Les Mckeown went up enormously after I heard that!
